What is Kava?
Also known as Piper Methysticum, and Kava Kava, Kava is a small shrub in the pepper family that is native to the islands in the south pacific. The roots are made into a therapeutic, psychoactive beverage, Kava has been used for centuries in spiritual tribal ceremonies.
How will Kava make me feel?
The active compounds in Kava are called Kavalactones, Kavalactones stimulates GABA & dopamine receptors in the body. This calms the user. elevates mood, and boosts ones sociability. Kava is mildly intoxicating, with psychoactive effects being reported to be similar to alcohol.
What is the recommended dose?
We recommend novice users to start with half of our 500mg shot, while those who are sensitive to medications and other substances, we recommend to start with a forth of a 500mg shot.
What are the side effects & health concerns?
The first side effect any Kava user experiences is numbness of mouth on consumption. This is normal because Kavalactones contain muscle relaxing and numbing properties. Other common side effects are drowsiness, indigestion, and headache. It is highly recommended to not take Kava with alcohol and/or other mediciations as this may lead to liver damage. While risk is rare, Kava can tie up enzymes in the liver used to metabolize other drugs, causing them to accumulate in and damage the liver. Please ask a healthcare professional before use if you have or have had liver problems. Do not use while nuring or pregnant.
Is Kava safe?
Yes, when consumed responsibly. Kava has been used safely for thousands of years across Pacific Island cultures. Like anything, moderation is key. We recommend following the suggested use on each product and not exceeding the recommended serving size. If you have liver conditions or take prescription medications, consult your doctor before use.
How long do the effects of Kava last?
Most people feel the effects of kava within 15–30 minutes of drinking it. Effects typically last 1–3 hours depending on your body weight, metabolism, and whether you've eaten recently.
